Tribute To ODB a.k.a Big Baby Jesus

Just in case you don’t know, today is the 4th year anniversary since OL’ Dirty Bastard’s death. I just watched the Wu Tang Clan story on B.E.T and it was pretty good for B.E.T( If you can get through all the commercials). I felt compelled to do this post, because we can’t forget those MC’s who set out years ago to move the crowd. ODB was definitely that guy to get the party goin’. It was like when you heard his voice on a track, you was ready to get gutter as F&^%! I remember first hearing the Wu( Where were you?) and have been a fan ever since. Get ready to break ya neck! Here’s a couple of Throwback Tracks from The Wu - Tang Clan Greatest Hits CD. Oh yeah, today would have also been ODB’s 40th birthday. Happy birthday ODB. R.I.P.

K. Sparks Spits ‘That 5 Star Hip Hop Shit’

It was just yesterday, I was talking about how we’re gonna get an exclusive one day.  Not only did we NOT get an exclusive, we got something a lot better.  We got a shout out from one of our affiliated artists that we’ve been showing love to, K. Sparks.  In the beginning of the third verse, Sparks says:

I spit that 5 Star Hip Hop Shit, then do a drive by wit Kevin Nottingham in the whip

This song is just Sparks showing love to all the blogs that show him love, us being one of them.  To get shouted means a lot to us, cause we’ve never been shouted out in a song, so big ups to the homie K. Sparks.  Looking forward to more ish from you patna.  Check out K. Sparks’ myspace.

DOWNLOAD: K. Sparks - Blogology (5 BLAZING STARS!)

(Fast forward to 2:04 to hear him shout us…), mp3, z

share, mediafire, sendspace, .mp3, .rar, megaupload, rapidshare, badongo, sharebee, cdq, full, no dj, nodj,

**Of course I’m gonna keep bumping this to the top….we got a shout AND it’s a hot song…

Nas Interview With Complex and Kayne West saved Hip Hop?

DONT FORGET TO GO OUT AND BUY NAS ALBUM WHEN IT DROPS “UNTITLED”

Everyone’s been talking about Nas’s forthcoming album, because, well that’s what people do when the God’s Son preps new material. But this time around it was a little different. Nas’s intention to name the LP N*gger generated a buzz that spread far beyond rap nerds into mainstream media and the political arena.

But after all the drama, the newly Untitled album is finally hitting stores on Tuesday. With the controversey finally laid to rest, we talked to Esco about the brightly-colored fashion shoot he did with Complex that had bloggers catching feelings, his new deal with Fila, rap’s recession, and who he thinks saved hip-hop…

Just Copped Three 6 Mafia - “Last 2 Walk” Album….

Yea, I just copped Three 6 Mafia’s album, “Last 2 Walk” from Meijer.  Why’d I make a post about it?  Well, plenty reasons….

  1. The last album I liked enough to buy was Eminem’s Encore….so me to buy an album is a  big thing.  I’m starting to realize that we need to stop complaining about hip hop being dead and support the good music artists who keep it coming and hopefully these lame ringtones fools will die off.  I know Three 6 probably won’t do that well the first week, but at least I helped.
  2. I was kinda disappointed with the PHYSICAL aspect of the album.  As you can see, the case is PAPER.  I HATE paper album covers, this thing will be bent before the end of the day.  Second, there is NOTHING inside.  There IS NO BOOK, NO CREDITS, NO PICTURES besides the inside of the case, just the CD itself.  Well, it was only $8.99, so I guess you get what you pay for.  There is a website on the back to get the credits from.  The album is hot, but I expected more!  If this was a female r&b artist and I didn’t get extra pics I woulda been pissed.  But, not that big of a deal here…
  3. The DVD version was $16.99 at Meijer, so I’m cool on that….
  4. The last reason I’m posting about this is because I’m always preaching to y’all about buying albums…so I might as well buy one myself.  I’m definitely gonna start buying more albums (good ones of course).  Albums I personally plan to buy are II Trill, L.A.X., and possibly Paper Trail.

Anyway, I’m done ranting and sounding like the RIAA and all that.  I’m out.  Part 2 of today’s singles coming up right after this…..STAY TUNED

5 Star Hip Hop.com’s Weekly Album Recommendations

Hey, what’s up people. This is somewhat of a slow week for hip hop album releases. No HUGE names, but still some mentionables. I highly recommend 2 Pistols’ album “Death Before Dishonor”, as it is bangin’ in the whip right now. The CTE camp has Blood Raw dropping his first album “My Life: The True Testimony”. I also forgot to mention KRS-One’s album, “Maximum Strength” last week around all the hype of those big releases last week. I still recommend picking up Bun B’s “II Trill” album, along with the other albums below. Whether you buy a mp3 from itunes, amazon, or the album from the store, support your favorite artists or they won’t be around for long.

If you supported any of your artists recently, make a comment and let the community know what’s hot and what’s not.

5 Star Hip Hop.com’s Weekly Album Recommendations

What’s up people? Here are the albums I recommend buying this week. This week we have Lil Wayne dropping “The Carter III”, Plies coming out with his sophomore album, “Definition of Real”. N.E.R.D is “Seeing Sounds” this week and Tyga is also dropping his first album, “No Introduction”. Whether you purchase through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or at your local retailer, support the artists in what they do. People continue to claim hip hop is dead. Let’s show them it’s not!
