Wale – Bait Remix Feat. 2Chainz, Rick Ross, & Trey Songz
by T Marko on Dec 8th, 2011Read More » TagsFrom what I’ve heard, this is one of Wale’s most liked songs of the past year or so. And with Tity Boi 2Chainz‘ new name, he seems to be gaining some momentum as well. Wale has said on Twitter that he’s already got two songs finished from his next album, so it actually isn’t out of the question to see his third release in the second quarter next year.

Copying Versus Inspiration: You Decide (Video)
by Lioness on May 28th, 2011Read More » TagsThis year I feel that numerous stars have come under fire for “copying” other artists. From Nicki Minaj jacking Lil Kim, Rihanna being sued by David LaChapelle for her S&M video, Trey Songz jacking R. Kelly’s style and vocal arrangement. The list can really go on.
Now Beyonce’s “epic” Billboard performance of Run The World has come under fire for her “copying” Lorella Cuccatini’s Samero 2010 performance. If you are a real fan or music junkie, you will know that Beyonce and Destiny’s Child are notorious of being “influenced” by other acts (large and small) and giving props to others most times after it has been exposed on the internet. (Sometimes they didn’t give proper credit at all.) I digress, Beyonce responded with the following:
‘My makeup artist showed me the performance of Lorella Cuccarini a year ago, and it inspired me so much’, she went onto reveal ‘I then met with the talented people who worked on it. The technology and concept were so genius. Thank God for YouTube or I would have never been exposed to something so inspiring. I never worked so hard on anything in my life as that performance for the Billboard Awards’.
Update: I am not trying to take anything away from Beyonce’s performance. I am talking about the difference between copying someone and being influenced by someone. The examples I posted above are just examples of individual’s who have been accused of “copying” this year.
My question is what is the difference from copying someone and being inspired by them? What is your opinion on originality and is it really dead? What is the difference between an artist, star and musician? I will post my thoughts later but I am interested to hear what you guys think.
Side note: I have posted links to both videos so you may watch them in their entirety.

Tank – Celebration ft. Chris Brown & Trey Songz
by Lioness on May 10th, 2011Read More » TagsProps to tank celebration remix by TheYBF.com
It’s nice to see R&B artists collaborate. Here is the remix to Tank’s track Celebration from his album Now or Never. I am not sure if the original track, which features Drake has been released as an official single yet. However, it seems that Tank is aiming for the number 1 spot on Billboard Hip-hop/R&B charts with this track. Thoughts? Who brought it the most?
Side note: I miss Drake’s “Give it up one time” in the song. Ha.
