NAS Nas & Damian Marley Strong Will Continue

Here comes the final version of Nas and Damian Marley’s “Strong Will Continue.” The other version that leaked was not the full version, as it lacked Nas’ second verse.

In his second verse, Nas addresses his recent debacle with his ex-wife, Kelis, his son, Knight, paying child support and more. Link below, people.

Here’s a new cut off DJ Khaled’s upcoming Victory album, which isn’t due out until March 2nd. This record was supposed to feature Kanye, but obviously he does not appear on it. Maybe he will be on the album version? Who knows?

Fashawn Freestyles On Toca Tuesdays (Video)

Fashawn Freestyle on Toca Tuesdays from Toca Tuesdays on Vimeo.

My man Fashawn visited DJ Tony Touch and Shade 45 to spit a little something for the Toca Tuesday Freestyle series. If this is off the top that’s damn impressive, and even if it was previously written, it’s still dope. If you are not hip to Fashawn yet I highly suggest you get it together. His debut album, Boy Meets World, is one of the best records I have heard in a long time. There are also rumors of a mixtape he put together where he spits over every Nas beat from Illmatic. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for the kid from Fresno.

nas damien marley distant relatives Damian Marley & Nasir Jones As We Enter

After getting the first single, I wasn’t expecting to hear another song from this album so quick, but I’m not mad about it. In this song titled “As We Enter,” we hear the two go back on forth, playing off each other to make another great song. Distant Relatives set for 4/20.

“Salute and honor real revolution rhymers”

DistantRelatives Damian Marley & Nasir Jones Strong Will Continue

Here comes what they are saying is the first single off the collaboration album Distant Relatives. Personally I can’t wait for this album, so its killin me that they are saying its been pushed back to to a 4/20 release date now. I know these two are going to be making a very socially conscious and substantial album. So, download the track and let us know what you think.

Why Nas’ Untitled is better than Illmatic (Part 1)

nasuntitled Why Nas Untitled is better than Illmatic (Part 1)

If you were to ask a hip-hop fan to name of of the most classic albums of all time, many of them would probably immediately reply, “Illmatic by Nas, son!” If you then asked that same hip-hop fan what his or her favorite Nas album is, lllmatic, God’s Son, and Stillmatic are all likely answers that would come out of their mouth. But no one ever talks about Untitled, the 2008 release that should have sent shock waves through the hip-hop community but seemingly came and went quieter than a Bow Wow album. From its social relevance to its unbelievable lyricism to its ability to make the entire country take a new look at the “n” word, I maintain that Untitled is better than Illmatic. Hit the jump to read part one of my breakdown of the album and how important to not just hip-hop culture, but American culture Untitled truly is. Continue reading this post »

Joss Stone

Looks like Nas adds his poetic justice to a new Joss Stone track, entitled Governmentalist. The track is off of her upcoming album, Colour Me, which will be released October 20th, 2009. Enjoy poetry mixed with vocals mixed with sociopolitical lyrics.

NaS takes time to talk to CNN about his Open Letter To Young Warriors and defends his lyrics on songs such as “Shoot Em Up”. This brings up an issue of, do rap lyrics negatively affect the youth and influence violence, or are rap lyrics stem from things already happening?

Punchbowl Blog Interviews Nas (Video)

In the video above, the Punchbowl Blog was able to catch up with Nas in an exclusive interview after his performance at the Orange Rock Corps. They talk about Jay-Z’s latest album, Blueprint 3, Raekwon’s latest album, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2, being featured on both albums, his favorite “new” artists and more. Enjoy.

Courtesy of Nah Right:

The Punchbowl Blog caught up with Nas at the Orange Rock Corps concert over in the U.K. and asked him about his new album with Damien Marley and his next solo project. When the interviewer asks him about his FAILure to submit a verse for “Verbal Intercourse 2?, he says that this is the first he’s hearing of it. When she specifically asks him about “Empire State of Mind”, he tells her to move on to the next question. Nevertheless, he goes on to say that Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 and Blueprint 3 are two of his favorite albums right now and cites both as sources of inspiration. He also comments briefly on Kanye at the VMAs, Kelis and being offered the Def Jam presidency. Finally, he mentions Drake, Lil Wayne and Asher Roth as “new” artists that he respects.

Sidebar: I want to see Nas live so bad. Is it worth it for all you people that have attended a Nas show?
