I found this a little interesting.

My nickname is Lil Tune — my grandmother named me that,” he explained. “She’s passed. My grandmother, her name was Mercedes Carter. She named me Lil Tune. We just threw the ‘Chi’ on there. Like Gucci, I say ‘Tunechi!’ “

Lil Wayne’s Rebirth Pushed Back to 2010

lil wayne

Lil Wayne’s forthcoming album, Rebirth, has been once again pushed back to February 1st, 2010.

What happened to April? Who knows, but I am not all that surprised. I do not see why the label will not just drop this project and move on to the next in the Tha Carter series.

Courtesy of XXL:

Lil Wayne fans will have to wait until next year to hear the New Orleans superstar’s repeatedly delayed follow-up to 2008’s Tha Carter III.

Universal Records has confirmed with XXLMag.com that Weezy’s experimental album, Rebirth, has been pushed back to 2010. Cash Money co-founder Birdman made an announcement on his twitter account earlier today that said the disc was moved to February 1, but reps for Universal did not reveal a specific release date.

Wayne’s new LP, which has been reported to feature more rock-inspired material, has faced a slew of different drop dates throughout the year, with the earliest one tracing all the way back to last April.

Despite the change of plans, Wayne’s Young Money camp is still set to release its debut compilation album on December 21.”

I don’t know about you, but Diggy Simmons proved his point with me. And it seems with you all as well, seeing that he received little over 800 downloads in a few days, and still counting.

Tomorrow is the day, folks, so we shall see what Diggy is capable of via MP3.

Lil Wayne’s Rebirth Due Out December 15th

LIL WAYNE

After several months of delays and multiple push backs, Lil Wayne’s Rebirth finally has an official release date via Universal.

Courtesy of MTV:

“Yes, the album is still rock,” he said. “I play guitar on 80 percent of the songs, and there’s a lot of rock influences and rock beats. I also have Travis Barker on the album. But I don’t want people to think I’m trying to do something I can’t do. Don’t think you’re going to put on the album and hear me screaming and singing. When I said I was doing a rock album, it was about doing a freedom thing,” he continued. “This album isn’t hip-hop. When I do my Carter albums, I know I’ve got to rap, I know I’ve got to spit. I know the words I’ve got to say and the subjects I’ve got to talk about. I also know the things I shouldn’t say, the things I shouldn’t talk about. There’s none of those limits on this album. I say what I want, how I want. That’s what this album is: a freedom album.”

“I had to add new cuts, because a lot of things leaked, making people think they had an idea of what I was doing with Rebirth and what it would sound like,” he said. “And I hated that, because I never want anybody to think they know what I’m doing until I present it. So what I did was make it totally different. I flipped it.”

In addition to protégé Drake, the album is slated to include guest spots from members of Fall Out Boy and Lenny Kravitz. It’s unknown if Rebirth will be the last full-length album Wayne will release before he is scheduled to go to prison in New York for at least eight months after pleading guilty to a felony charge of attempted criminal possession of a weapon.”

How are you guys feeling about this album? Do you think that Lil Wayne can pull this off or will it flop? Personally, I believe that his album will be too futuristic for most, so I have very high hopes for the album.

Wale – Attention Deficit (Tracklist)

WALE Wale Attention Deficit (Tracklist)

The official tracklist to Wale’s November 10th effort, Attention Deficit, has been released, and by the looks of it, I am quite pleased. Though I believe that Wale’s debut will have mixed reviews from fans and critics alike, the bevy of features and the solid production will have people listening nonetheless. With features from Lady Gaga to upcoming star J. Cole, this will be an album purchase I will not regret.

01. Triumph (prod. Dave Sitek)
02. Mamma Told Me
03. Mirrors f. Bun B (Prod. Mark Ronson)
04. Pretty Girls (Ft. Gucci Mane & Weensey (of Backyard Band)) (Prod. Best Kept Secret)

Rihanna’s ‘Rated R’ Album Cover Debut

Rihanna Rated R

Looks like Rihanna and photographer, Ellen von Unwerth, have finished Rihanna’s official Rated R album cover from her upcoming November 23rd release.

Courtesy of PopEater:

The ‘Rated R’ cover was shot by famed photographer Ellen von Unwerth, who says that “Rihanna was looking to create something a bit new for the look of the album.”

Von Unwerth goes on to say that Rihanna is “so beautiful, sweet and tough at the same time — and a pleasure to shoot,” adding that she’s “fantastic to work with — very giving, very creative, very involved in every aspect of the shoot, and ready to push the boundaries.”

The first single off of ‘Rated R’ is a slowed-down track titled ‘Russian Roulette,’ a dark tune in which Rihanna sings: “And you can see my heart beating / You can see it through my chest / And I’m terrified but I’m not leaving / Know that I must must pass this test / So just pull the trigger.” You can listen to the song on Rihanna’s Web site, Rihannanow.com.

50 Cent1 50 Cent Before I Self Destruct (Tracklist)

We are not too far away from 50 Cent’s upcoming album release, so I guess it is fitting that we release the official tracklist. Though I was expecting a few more guest appearances on the album, it looks like Ne-Yo got the only guest appearance mention.

They may be not releasing the other names on the album for suspense sake, but nonetheless, I am looking forward to hearing record in its entirety.
