Following the debut of Kanye West’s music video “All Of The Lights,” many were left to wonder if the rapper had lost his creative eye. Having mimicked the film “Enter The Void,” a psychedelic melodrama, directed by Gaspar Noé (previously known for pictures “I Stand Alone,” and “Irréversible”), it is unknown whether Kanye’s duplication was an attempt to honor French film, or blatant imagery piracy. During the music video, Kanye is seen in black and white, alongside Kid Cudi and Rihanna, prior to colorful words flashing across the screen in several frames, seeming a bit too similar to Noé’s intro to “Enter The Void.”
“Either it’s a deliberate homage to the film, or… well, maybe nobody thought Kanye’s fans would know anything about relatively obscure French melodramas. Hard to say,” stated Linda Sharp, a writer for TheStirBlog.com.
