Here’s XV’s brand new mixtape titled 30 Minute Layover, which serves as a prelude to his Vizzy Zone mixtape. A lot of people think this guy should have been one of the 2010 XXL Freshman. I haven’t listened to this yet, but after this and his other mixtape we’ll see.

The last freestyle for the XXL Freshman Class of 2010 comes from Jay Rock. Now that we know all 10 names, what do ya’ll think?

The names (in no particular order) are Nipsey Hu$$le, Fashawn, J. Cole, Big Sean, Pill, Freddie Gibbs, OJ Da Juice Man, Wiz Khalifa, Donnis, & Jay Rock.

In the first episode I take VIMBY to the South Bronx, where I grew up… Check some of the homies, and talk about some of the things I used to get into back in the day. Then later I go check out this loft party for the “Girl Soldier” event with LOLA and Gin Lane. And lastly I give you a sneak peak of what me and Legendary Producer Bink! have been cooking up in the studio!

The latest XXL freshman 2010 freestyle is ATL’s own, Donnis. I think people are going to really start to appreciated this kid in 2010. One of my favorite guys in the new class.

Dame Dash’s media project, Creative Control, put together some visuals to this excellent track by the Hot Spitta and fairly unknown artist Stalley, who hails from Massilon, Ohio. I have to compliment Dame Dash, whenever Creative Control puts out a video, the visuals are always so crisp and well edited. Don’t sleep on Stalley either, the dude has bars as deep as his beard.  Props to him for rocking the Indians hat!  Also, Curren$y is just decked out in Diamond Supply Co. gear in this video. I’m jealous.

As part of their Embedded series, Current follows Mos Def as he tours Japan.  I know its long, but if you have some spare time, these series are pretty cool.  Plus it’s Mos Def, so you can’t really go wrong.

On this special hour-long Embedded, Mos Def takes us on an all access seven-day tour of Japan while he performs his new album “The Ecstatic” to packed venues in Tokyo and Osaka.

In part 1, Mos Def explores Tokyo’s fashionable Harajuku district, where he buys a spiky blue jacket that baffles his crew. Plus Mos discovers why so many people in Japan wear surgical masks and learns there’s no way a black in Japan being followed by a camera crew can fly under the radar.

Murs and 9th Wonder have linked up once again for their 4th album, called Fornever, in 5 years.  In preparation for the release, March 30, they gave us an extra to add to our libraries titled “3:16 Pt. 2.”  Enjoy!

If you remember a few weeks ago I brought you my interview with the up-and-coming, St. Louis/Columbia based artist Goone.  After witnessing his lyrical ability in an amateur “rap battle” held here at the University of Missouri and hearing more of his music, I held the belief that Goone definitely had the talent to move upwards in this rap game.  Today, I am pleased to bring you his debut mixtape, Calm Before The Storm.  With 13 tracks, this mixtape is the beginning of Goone’s journey into what hopefully is a successful rap career.  So download the tape below, give it a listen and as always, comments are appreciated.  Enjoy.
