Michael Eric Dyson vs President Obama (Video)

Stop… Mr Dyson… Stop. We are all entitled to our opinion and I am glad that you have been able to use your notable accomplishments and position to afford you this platform, however, what I just heard was weak. Check the record, Obama is deftly navigating the mine field that is American politics and cannot afford the luxuries you enjoy to spout out pseudo intellectual platitudes regarding race. You should be careful with your words and not be a crab in the bucket. Being a Monday morning quarterback is always easier than playing in the big game. Play your position Mr Dyson and provide support for the president as he is doing a pretty damn good job. Excuse him for not being ‘your’ perfect president, but he has to be president for all of us and that means walking a fine line, that means getting things done. You talk about his lack of blue collar support in Detroit, well, his support comes in the fact that he has extended and increased unemployment. He has made it so that if you decide to better your education when you are unemployed to sharpen or retool your skill set for re-entering the work force that you can and will not loose your unemployment benefits and are eligible for student aid from the government. That is HUGE. He has made it so that COBRA is way more affordable by allowing COBRA recipients to only have to pay 35% of the full (and expensive) premium so that people can afford to have health care. And speaking of health care he is gearing up to overhaul that system while simultaneously providing higher paying jobs to many. And the demographic that benefits most from such an endeavor is BLACK people, my people, our people, who notoriously die from poor health care, especially in the context of early stage detection. Oh, you would rather him support GM a dinosaur of a company with more tax payer funds? GM, A company that has done a disservice to it’s employees by churning out poor products. So you are in favor for corporate welfare just because it employs blue collar workers? You are not consistent, or your view is so myopic you cannot see the larger agenda. So Mr. Dyson; I’d beg you to stop stoking the embers under YOUR president and look to Rush Limbaugh and focus on the GOP who are attacking him from every angle. Our presidents needs more allies than divisive silver tongued black pseudo-intellegiencia. The GOP has a hateful storm gathering, where will you stand? What are YOU doing Mr. Dyson? You are an abundance of words. The problem is your words, when heard by less discerning ears may cause more harm than good. As you said, support the president, in the mean time…, I say this respectfully, SHUT UP!

And yes, having a president that looks like me and is intelligent and skilled makes me proud. Black and Proud.
